Poor Janet

This is kinda funny: Janet Jackson is cancelling shows of her tour, due to 'exhaustion'. However, reports from TicketMaster and LiveNation show that tickets aren't selling very well, with Janet performing to half empty arena's. In fact, Philadelphia's Wachovia Center has sold only 4700 tickets so far, out of 21.000. Now Philadelphia is cancelled, but I highly doubt this is because of some medical reason.

Maybe Janet should just admit she's a talentless bitch who should just stop recording or performing?

KylieX2008 - the second leg

With all the buzz surrounding Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour going on, you'd almost forget the lovely Kylie Minogue will resume her KylieX2008 Tour in just a month from now. Upcoming album

Take That are currently finishing off their new album, which is scheduled to be released in December. The first single will be released in November. No official word on a tour yet, but let's hope they'll hit the road again, after the fantastic Beautiful World Tour 2007!

Almost done

Yesterday my parents came over for the second time this week to help me out with my new appartment. Like last Wednesday, we got a lot of work done! Most of my lamps now hang, all my windows and my kitchen are crystal clear clean, my bathroom is clean, my doors are painted and my wardrobe closet is fixed.

I'm glad they came over, as I'm not really motivated to do things anymore (it's just taking way too long) so having some help and company around really helps! I guess by the end of this week everything will be done, which will be well in time before my housewarming party.

Miles Away

I wonder what the video will look like. I bet it's going to be a live shot from the Sticky & Sweet Tour, as there were camera's present at the Wembley Stadium show on September 11.

A sign of life

I'm sorry for my lack of updates lately. As I'm still in the final stages of moving houses, I temporarily have to live without an internet connection of my own, therefor making it difficult to update my site.

Bye bye Europe

Tonight will be the final European show of Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008. After this, the tour will move to North America, where Madonna will perform her first show on October 4th at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, after which she will move on to 4 nights at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The tour will stay in North America all through October and November, before moving to South America in December.

Having seen the show 4 times, and knowing it's a fantastic spectacle, I wish all the North and South American fans a wonderfull time at the shows, but of course, let the Greek fans have a blast tonight as well, at the final European show at the Olympic Stadium in Athens!

Almost home

As of yesterday both my television and my central heating boiler are working as they're supposed to, so right now the only thing not working in my new house is my internet connection, which will, if all goes as planned, get online by October 1st.

Ziena came over yesterday as the first official guest who wasn't there to help me out, but just for the fun of it. Obviously, it's not finished yet, as there is still some painting and cleaning to do, but it really does start to look like something. Sunday Ziena comes over again to do some painting, and Monday my parents are coming over for the second time this week, to help me paint and connect lights and stuff.

Tonight I'm getting a co-worker over for some beer, which will probably be a nice way to spend the evening. Also, yesterday I've put out invitations to my housewarming party which will take place on October 18th. I'm looking forward to it!

Stade De France, as it was beginning to fill this weekend, for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour in Paris, France. I'm one of those tens of thousands of people you see on the field. This picture was taken hours before the stadium was filled, so you can imagine how crowded it was at showtime!

Today my parents came over to help me out with my new house! My mom painted many of my doors, while my dad and I went to IKEA to buy new stuff.

We got loads of work done, and they're coming back on Monday to finish things off. Really great, my house really begins to feel like home now!

Argentina must love her

Argentina, the homeland of Evita, must really love Madonna, as yet another show has been added at Buenos Aires River Plate Stadium. Now that the three previous announced shows are sold out, a fourth show will take place on December 3. Check Madonna's Official Site for details!

My Paris trip - day 5

On Monday, Jacolijn, Arjen, Annelies and I went to visit Disneyland Paris. As soon as we arrived it was obvious this was going to be a slow day for the park, and therefor a very good day for us, since there were practically no lines (I only had to use my FastPass once, so that says enough). We bought Hopper tickets, meaning we could visit both Disneyland Park as well as the Walt Disney Studios.

Space Mountain: Mission 2 was closed for refurbishment, which was a bit of a dissapointed (we knew this from Thursday on), but the rest of the attractions were so easy to get on, we didn't even really miss it.

My favourite rides are definitely the Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror (I never screamed on a ride as hard as I did on this one), Big Thunder Mountain, Crush Coaster and Pirates Of The Carribean. Then again, I love all of it, so there really is no need for a list of favourites.

When the theme parks closed, we went into Disney Village for some food and some shopping, to conclude our trip. After that, we drove back to Brabant, where we spend the night quite exhausted. Annelies and I went back to Groningen late morning/early afternoon, after spending a great great great weekend in Paris with Madonna and Disney. Thanks to all who made it such a fun time, especially Annelies, Arjen and Jacolijn!

My Paris trip - day 4

Day 4, Sunday, again was showday, and this time we all had Golden Circle tickets. Nonetheless, we decided not to line up, and visited Montmartre instead. It's a beautiful area in Paris where one can visit the Sacre Coeur, the Moulin Rouge and of course have a great al fresco lunch. We did it all, and the weather was great, so go figure.

We went back to the Stade de France at about 4 PM and managed to get great spots in the stadium. However, the audience around us was absolutely horrible, so about halfway into the show we decided we couldn't take it anymore, and went out of the pushing crowd towards the back of the Golden Circle. Although this meant we didn't have such a great view of Madonna anymore as we did the first half of the show, it did make the show all the more enjoyable. Madonna, as always, was fantastic, so this was a great way to end my part of the Sticky & Sweet Tour!

My Paris trip - day 3

Saturday was show day, but we decided not to go queueing all day long. Annelies and I didn't have Golden Circle tickets for this show (as opposed to Sunday's show), so there was no way we could get near the stage anyway, so why waste your day in Paris?

Instead, the four of us went to the Eiffel Tour, which was again absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately the line to climb the tower was about two hours long, so we decided to enjoy the scene from ground level. It wasn't any less impressive just standing in front of it and watching it!

We then went to the Champs Elysee, with all the nice and expensive shops. I bought myself a great poster of Paris to hang in my new living room, so I was quite happy. Jacolijn gave me a Bullet Bill (from Mario Kart) action figure, which was even more fun!

After a quick meal at McDonalds we went to the Stade De France. Annelies and I stayed outside for a while to grab some beers, and then went in. Although we didn't have Golden Circle tickets, we still had a great spot, right next to the beverages stands. The good thing about not being in the Golden Circle, is the fact that people aren't pushing as much as they are up front, so there's actually room to dance. Madonna put on a great show again, just as she did in Amsterdam and Dusseldorf, so I had a great night!

My Paris trip - day 2

On Friday morning we woke up early to beat the rush hour on our way to Paris, which worked out mostly. The ride was pleasant, as there's always a lot to see around the French highways, so I had a good time.

Around 11 AM we arrived at Saint Denis, which was the area where both our hotel, as well as the Stade De France, where we were going to see Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour again, are situated. The hotel was good, so after unpacking we went to take a look at the stadium. As it turns out: it's huge. I suppose it's the biggest venue I've ever seen Madonna, but it's pretty impressive nonetheless. Of course, nothing can ever beat seeing Madonna at Bercy Paris, but this was a good alternative.

In the afternoon, we went to visit the grave of Jim Morrison and then walked to Madonna's hotel. There was quite a crowd gathered outside, but not large enough to think Madonna would actually arrive anytime soon, so we went out for dinner instead.

After a nice dinner we went back to Madonna's hotel and waited for about 20 minutes. By now, the crowd was huge, so we suspected Madonna would show up soon. Alas, after 20 minutes the hotel security took away the barricades and told us Madonna wasn't coming today after all.

Oh well, we went back to the hotel, took a nice beer, and went to sleep.

My Paris trip - day 1

So, I'm back from my wonderfull weekend in Paris; time to write a report! Annelies and I left Thursday morning to pick up our rental car, which turned out to be a nice one. We drove to Brabant, where we would spend the night at Jacolijn and Arjen's house, not only because it's a lot closer to Paris, but also simply because it's fun.

After dinner, we played loads of Super Mario Cart on the Nintendo Wii, which is an absolute blast! I'm totally lousy in playing, but it's so much fun doing so. After three hours of pinguins, crabs and Bullet Bill, nothing seems ridiculous anymore!

After a nice glass of wine we went to bed to prepare for an early morning, to drive to Paris!

Away mode

This weekend, I'm going to have a blast! I'm going to see Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008 at the Stade De France in Paris for both shows, September 20 and 21! September 21 we've got Golden Circle tickets!!!

As if the shows aren't fun enough, on Monday Annelies, Jacolijn, Arjen and I are going to Disneyland Paris!

Ready to move

Everything's packed! I'm ready to move!

The last day

Today will be the last day I will actually live in my old house. I've paid rent until the end of September so technically I can still be here as much as I'd like, but obviously there's no need, since all my stuff will be in my new appartment as of tomorrow. It's going to be a busy day today, finishing off the last rounds of packing. I'm taking everything with me, except my computer. My internet connection has not been fixed yet, so in order to be able to check my email (and, of course, post here), I'm letting my computer stay in the old house for as long as possible. When all goes right, I will have a connection at the new place by October 1st, but seeing this is an internet service provider we're talking about, I'm not counting on it.

Meanwhile, at this moment my house is looking like Hiroshima. There's debris and boxes everywhere. I never really thought about it that when you clean out a closet but don't have anywhere to put the boxes, the mess will be twice as large, as the empty closet stays in it's place, but will be joined by huge boxes of stuff. I can hardly walk in my living room anymore. Good thing all of this will be moved tomorrow. I can't wait to start filling my closets again at the new appartment.

Well, it's back to packing boxes for me. I intend to keep my stereo unpacked today for as long as possible, so that I can still enjoy some music while being busy. That means I'll have to work my way around it, which is what I'm going to do right now.

Packing up

Today and tomorrow I'm packing, since Wednesday I'm moving my stuff into my new home. I kind of enjoy packing, all sorts of things I forgot I even had suddenly show up, along with many photo's from the past couple of years. That's a bit weird, my ex boyfriend and I went to Antwerpen for a week, back in 2003, and all those pictures I'd hidden way back in the closet. Now they're back, and it made me pretty sad looking at them. Still, I decided to keep them, as a great memory of a fantastic vacation.

So while packing is good fun, the actual moving itself will be horrendous, I suspect. Right now I'm living two stories high, and my new appartment is four stories high. In both cases, you've guessed it, there's no elevator, so it's going to be a real physical challenge getting everything moved. I'm trying to get as much help as I can, but unfortunately there aren't many friends still living in Groningen left, and besides, it's a Wednesday so many of my friends will be working. Right now I'm having three friends helping me, but hopefully there will be some more.

Even though I'm not looking forward to moving itself, I am very much looking forward to the results. The carpeting made the appartment a lot more like a home, but actually having your furniture and stuff placed where it should, will really make it a nice place to be!

Under rug swept

Thanks to my brother in law, my new appartment is now fully carpeted! We spend the entire evening and half of the afternoon, but finished it off quite easily. It looks great! Carpeting can really turn a house into a home! I can't wait for next Wednesday, to move all my stuff and spend my first night in my new place.

Sick of it

Another 'funfilled' day of painting, moving and cleaning coming up. I must say I'm getting pretty much fed up with it after a week of doing nothing else than working and painting.

Monday my parents are coming over to do my carpeting, to which I'm very grateful, as there's no way I could do it myself. I'm not that much of a handyman, so I wanted the store to come do it for me. Unfortunately, they were fully booked for at least a week, so that wouldn't give me enough time to do my moving. So I was kind of worried what to, until my parents offered to help me out. So, in just two days the house will finally begin to look like a home!

Anyway, I need to get going. Have a nice day!

Madonna stayed for just an hour at husband Guy's 40th birthday party and here's why - she needed all her energy for last night's incredible performance at Wembley Stadium.

The 50-year-old queen of pop showed off her honed and muscular body as she cavorted around the stage in a white silk top hat, high cut leotard, fishnets and leather stiletto boots.

Her energetic routine would have put to shame artists half her age, and proved those hours in her private gym have paid off.

The mother-of-three is touring the world with her Sticky and Sweet tour which is flying to 37 venues for the roadshow in just under four months, transporting a team of 250.

Amongst the thousands of fans last night were her A-list friends Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, whose mouths dropped open in amazement at Madonna's athletic exploits.

The audience also included Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Fergie from the Black Eyed peas.

The decadent two-hour show, which involved £1million of jewellery, saw Madonna perform many of her greatest hits, as well as indulging in eight costume changes.

The pop superstar arrived onstage dressed in a Givenchy outfit in a vintage white American car for the first section of the four-part show.

Labelled Pimp, the opening sequence was recently described by the Material Girl's publicist as a homage to '1920s deco and modern day gangsta pimp'.

Madonna followed up that segment of the concert with Old School, a tribute to the her roots in the urban dance music of early 1980s New York.

The remaining two sections, Gypsy and Rave, continued the high-energy performance.

Nightmare at Wembley

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet concert at London's Wembley Stadium yesterday, turned out to be a logistic nightmare. Read MadonnaTribe's article below:

Madonna fans who attended yesterday's Sticky & Sweet Tour in London didn't know they were embarking into a day that was going to become a nightmare.
Both Live Nation and the Wembley National Stadium staff were treating customers in a totally unacceptable way.
The Hot Ticket customers - reportedly counted in as much as 1.250 people - who paid £249.00 to live what they call "an experience" were continously treated with no respect by the rude and very aggressive security staff of the venue and when they were just trying to ask normal questions about the utterly unorganized way they were handling their entrance in the stadium, they were told they didn't even know that people were let in.
A shot and bossy blond security manager even had the gut to tell people who paid £249.00 to get the famous "priority access" to shut up or she wouldn't let them in the pitch but kicked them out of the stadium.
Security kept telling people to "talk to the promoter" (Live Nation) because it was all their fault. Live Nation people were blaming local staff. So basically it was the fans that didn't get the respect they deserved in the end.
To make things worse people a lot of people from the seated sections report that they could hardly hear anything during the show from their over priced seats and when they told the venue staff, they simply said they had to "complain to Madonna".

To complete the night, thousands people, a sea of people (as you can see from the photo above) were left "trapped" in front of the tube station that simply closed its door after midnight and all the only way police dealt with the situation was by saying "go away, get back to the Stadium to make phone calls and to get water, find a bus". It was a really shameful way of treateing turists, families, happy fans who assumed London was a civil city to live in and people are being taken care of in case of need when these huge events are taking place.

Fans and Live Nation customers are really fuming today. Please contact Live Nation and the Wembley venue to complain about the unbelivable disorganization they have handled the only Madonna date in London, ruining it for so many people.

It just keeps on going

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008 just keeps adding more shows! After fenomenal sales of the first show in Sao Paulo, a second one was added. Now, a third show at the Morumbi Stadium has been added, on December 21! The same goes for Buenos Aires, where a third show has been added at the River Plate Stadium on December 4!

Remembering the Twin towers

Can you believe it's already been 7 years since the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed? It seems like almost yesterday when the news showed the unbelievable images of the burning towers.

Yesterday, Dutch television showed the movie united 93 (got that one on DVD), and a documentary reconstructing the events from within the towers, altered with interviews with actual survivers. I never really thought about how it would have been withing the towers, since obviously on television we only saw the exterior images of the disaster. Very imressive to see how many people risked (and all too often gave) their own lifes to save others. I can't imagine how horrifying it must have been to be in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

One year... and counting

This will be the last of my '...and counting' series: I'm a non smoker for exactly one year today! Therefor, I think I've proven I can do it, so there's no need for me to post the countdown every month again. I know now I will never start smoking again, and I'm thrilled it's already been a year since I puffed away my last cigarette!

No doomsday

We're still here, in spite of doomsday talk over this machine!

The world's biggest physics experiment has succeeded in its first major test as a beam of protons was successfully fired all the way around a 17-mile tunnel beneath the Swiss-French border.

The protons traveled the full length Wednesday of the $3.8 billion Large Hadron Collider that scientists hope is the next great step to understand the makeup of the universe. There were a series of trial runs.

Two white dots flashed on a computer screen indicating that the protons reached the final point of the world's largest particle collider.

Scientists hope to see what the components of atoms are made of by smashing them together. The startup had been eagerly awaited by 9,000 physicists around the world who will conduct experiments here.

Help on the way

Yesterday Ziena, Harm Jan, and I again went for an evening of painting in my new place to live. Again, we got a lot of work done, so I;m quite happy! I'm really glad they're helping me out so much, as there would be no way I could have done this on my own. Tonight Annelies will be helping me, so again I hope to get a lot of work done.

I'm glad I've got so many friends willing to help me out!

Praise McDonalds

My poor friends over at One News Now are upset over the next step towards equality McDonalds is taking. All the more reason for me to start spending as much money as I possibly can at the Golden Arches!

By the way, this guy Randy Sharp from the AFA (pictured above) looks like a total fucking retard!

The American Family Association (AFA) says it's disappointing to learn that McDonald's is now spending a lot of money to send its employees to specialty events it has incorporated into its internal company training -- in addition to giving external money toward promoting homosexual events.

Randy Sharp is director of special projects for AFA, which is leading a boycott against the international hamburger retailer. In January, says Sharp, McDonald's sent 56 employees on an all-expenses paid trip to San Diego for the "Pioneer Summit," a conference it created and organized for the sole purpose of learning to better incorporate and promote the homosexual agenda within their own company.

"This wasn't an instance where McDonald's sent their employees to an outside homosexual event," Sharp clarifies. "This is a conference that McDonald's itself put on for their employees. It cost tens of thousands of dollars to pay all of the lodging and travel expenses for these 56 employees to go to San Diego...." The spokesman for the pro-family group calls that "just another indication that McDonald's is selling out to the homosexual agenda."

According to an article in Echelon Magazine -- a source for business professionals in the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community -- the conference in January "breathed into life" regional employee groups which have come to be known as the McDonald's Gay Lesbian Allies Network, or MGLAN.

Sharp says this latest revelation shows that the company is trying to indoctrinate its employees to accept the homosexual lifestyle. He argues it will lead to homosexual employees and their supporters -- corporate leaders among them -- demanding special recognition and benefits from the company, opening the door to a work culture that fully embraces same-sex "marriage" and relationships.

The pro-family activist says the January conference is even more reason for customers -- and independent franchise store owners across the country being forced to use part of their sales to help fund these events -- to boycott the company's involvement in them.

AFA called for the boycott this summer when McDonald's refused to remain neutral rather than support the homosexual agenda, and donated $20,000 to join and place a board member in the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

Give me power

As you know by now, I'm moving to a new appartment in just a few days, so right now I'm busy trying to get everything sorted out. one of the things I need to do, obviously, is to get my utilities fixed. When it comes to water and gas: not a problem.

Electricity however, is a different story. The person who lived in my new house before me, apparently tried to rip the utility company off, by placing an illegal electricity meter. As a result, the utility company doesn't recognize my connection (even though I've got service), so I've spend the entire morning on the phone, being reconnected to many different departments trying to sort things out.

As of yet, I'm still not sure wether or not everything's working out. They're going to call me back in two days maximum, so I will probably get a mechanics guy coming over to place a new meter. I just wish things wouldn't have to be so fucked up difficult.
