Goodbye my friend

Yesterday evening was the last time my friend Leendert came over for a drink before he goes off on his trip around the world. Tomorrow there's a big farewell party, and then that's it...Wednesday he'll be on a plane to Houston. After his trip, he'll move away from Groningen, meaning this really was the last time we could go and have a drink just like that.

Does this sound awfully familiar on this website? Yes, it does. These past two or three years, al but a few of friends have moved away from Groningen, so the spontaneous things we used to do in the old days, really belong to the past. Sometimes it's really odd to think about it... on any given day I could just call a bunch of people to go and have a good time, but not anymore.

Of course, during weekdays it's not so bad, since I don't want to go out and party anymore (I guess I'm showing my age here), but during weekends, it's sometimes a bit weird to realise there isn't really anyone to call. I need to add, this doesn't go for every weekend, usually I've gt plans. The big difference is, nowadays you really need to plan ahead to have fun, while it used to be so that you could just call someone and have a good time.

So, tomorrow will be the farewell party, and Leendert has asked me to speech. I'm still working on it!
