Hillary vs Obama

Hillary Clinton has won the primaries in New Hampshire, after being defeated by Barack Obama in Iowa earlier this week. I guess it's a good thing, because it makes the race to the White House more exciting for us onlookers. Of course, I can't vote myself, being Dutch and all, but since the United States have such a tremendous influence on the rest of the world, of course it's important to us here in the Netherlands as well who becomes the next President of the United States.

Which brings me to the point that basically I don't really give a damn if Clinton or Obama wins. I just want a Democrat to win, so that this fucked up Republican Bush era can finally come to a halt. Think about it: when Obama wins, he will be the first black man in the White House. If Hillary wins, she'll be the first American female president. Either way, it will be a breakthrough in American power, and I definitely think the world needs that.

If, on the other hand, the Republicans win, that fucking idiot Mike Huckabee in particular, nothing will change and this whole fucked up situation in the Middle East and elsewhere will stay exactly the same. Moreover, the United States will be lead by some religious idiot, and there's just no telling towards that could lead.

Of course, there's no way of telling what a Democrat in the White House, be it Clinton or Obama, will be like. During election time there are all these promises, but who will actually come through on them? After all, you can't just pull back from Iraq just like that, there has to be a plan. You can't just deport 12 million illegal immigrants just like that, there has to be a plan. You can't just put the entire American population on a health care scheme, there has to be a plan.

Still, I'm way more confidant the Democrats will work out a plan that can succeed than I have confidance in the Republicans. So, be it Hillary or Obama, at least one of them needs to win in November!
