She used to be so much fun

As I'm writing this, I'm watching Madonna's Girlie Show World Tour 1993, filmed at the Cricket Grounds Stadium in Sydney, Australia. It was released in 1994 on the longform video The Girlie Show: Live Down Under, and I got it as a birthday present from my parents when I turned 14. I remember it being the best show I had ever seen (I was only 14, so I hadn't actually seen a pop concert for real, just on videos) and watched it over and over again.

Many years later, back in 2004 (exactly ten years after), I got myself the Girlie Show: Live Down Under DVD, and I was just as much in love with it as I was with the video ten years earlier (I actually watched the video so many times it broke! that says enough about how much I loved it!). And now that I'm watching it again, I have to say: as much as I dislike Madonna now, she was SO good back then. Sure, she has never been the best singer, and she has never been the best dancer, but she knew how to put on a show!

It's sad to see the old Madonna has disappeared completely. I mean, it didn't happen overnight. I've seen her in concert for 13 times, the last time in 2008, but looking back on all these performances, no matter how fantastic some of them were (my first one.... Drowned World Tour at Max Schmeling Arena in Berlin, my first front row.... Re-Invention Tour at POP Bercy in Paris, Madonna touching my hand, Confessions Tour at POP Bercy in Paris), the magic just isn't there anymore. She used to be so much more fun.
