What a great weekend this was! As I mentioned before, I was a participant in de Batavierenrace, which is the largest race of its kind in the world, with over 8000 students or ex-students running. I did the 6.4 kilometer track, which was a bit shorter than last year, but still a hell of a long way. Seeing that I'm not much of a sports guy and smoke like a chimney, you can imagine I felt like I was ready to have a heart attack about three kilometers into the race. Fortunately enough, I did make it, in about 39 minutes, resulting into an average of about 9.5 kilometers per hour. Not so bad, is it?
Obviously, I wasn't into this race for the running... There's this huge party on the campus of University Twente after the race on Saturday night, and that's where the fun really begins. Over 10.000 people partying all night long in bars, a party tent and an open air disco. Since it was so hot everywhere, I opted for the open air disco for most of the evening, and danced my ass off. All of our team was there (well except for my ex-boyfriend, who did run, but didn't go to the party, which was a bit of a blessing) so we had a great time.
However, the day after I realised maybe dancing wasn't such a good idea after all, after running like hell, so now I'm in serious pain and I'm hardly able to walk. Stairs are killing me, and I look like I could use a wheelchair very badly. Of course, this was to be expected, and next year I'll join again, cause except for the running itself, it was a great weekend.
Imagine how I feel right now, after my week off, being back at work. I really need to get back in the rythm, cause I'm feeling a bit lost here, not really knowing what to do. I'll get the hang of it later today, or so I hope!
