Following the news that McDonalds is ending it's support to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, I have just send them the following e-mail. Please take the time and visit them at their corporate website to also file a (polite) complaint.
Dear sir/madam,
I regret very much the fact that today I've learned your company is pulling back its support to the gay and lesbian community. I find it very offensive that Christian organisations such as the AFA are trying to impose their believes on the rest of us, through boycots such as the one they imposed upon McDonalds.
Since the boycot started, I've become even a more regular customer than I already was, to support you in your support of gays.
Now that you have decided to give in to religious pressure, I'm sorry to have to inform you that I will use the same tactic as they did, and from now on will boycot McDonalds completely. As a 3 times per week customer, I know I am just a small part of your income, but I will hope you will feel it in your wallet nonetheless. Also, I will be forwarding this news to many of my friends who, just as I did, became a more regular visitor since the AFA boycot.
I sincerely hope you will come to your senses soon, and resume your support to the gay community. It is then, and only then, I will set foot in one of your restaurants again. Please do not send me a pre-written answer exlaining 'neutrality in the culture war', as the AFA puts it, as this has nothing to do with neutrality, but everything with choosing their side.
Sincerely, Theo van Dijk
