Gay Pride Amsterdam

Gay Pride has been absolutely smashing this past weekend! I know I've always said I would never go there, but when a couple of friends decided last week they were going, I gave in and decided to go as well. Boy was I right! I always thought it would be a sort of pathetic raunchy festival, but it was actually brilliant.

The Canal Parade during day time was loads of fun, with so many floats of happy dancing people and really good music! We had some wine and just sat back and relaxed, enjoying the show. One of the boats even played Music Inferno from Madonna's Confessions Tour, so obviously I was all smiles!

Then afterwards we went to the Reguliersdwarsstraat, which is like the center of Amsterdam's gay community. The whole street was one big party, with people dancing on the street all over the place. After dinner, we went back and danced most of the evening.

After a while we met up with Frank, who I still know from a year and a half ago. We had a nice drink together and decided to meet up sometime in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, we had to leave early, cause we were staying at a friend of ours who was pretty tired after travelling from Groningen to Amsterdam. Never mind, when we got to his place, I was really tired as well, so I was actually pretty happy to be able to get some sleep.

Today we woke up and had lunch on a terrace somewhere downtown, ate some brilliant eggs benedict and then went shopping. I bought myself this really cool shirt, a very trendy belt and a hat, so I'm wuite happy right now! All in all, a weekend to remember, I can't wait for next year!
